Baker Hughes: US rig count drops 5 units to 1,047

The US drilling rig count reached 1,047 units working for the week ended June 29, down 5 rigs from a week ago, according to Baker Hughes data. The count is up 107 units from this time a year ago when the count stood at 940.  Source: News

Aramco, NOV plan JV in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Aramco and National Oilwell Varco Inc. will form a joint venture in Saudi Arabia. The proposed JV will provide high-specification land rigs, rig and drilling equipment, offer certain aftermarket services, and establish an education center to train Saudi technicians in the maintenance and operation of the drilling technology, the companies said. Hess, CNX to sell JV assets in the Utica

Hess Corp. and CNX Resources Corp., Pittsburgh, will sell their 50-50 Ohio Utica joint venture assets to Ascent Resources-Utica LLC for net cash consideration of $400 million to each party.
