Wintershall Norge AS has been granted a drilling permit by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate for well 6706/6-2 S in the Norwegian Sea. The well will be drilled using Transocean Ltd.’s Transocean Spitsbergen ultradeepwater semisubmersible drilling rig about 7 km northwest of the 6706/6-1 (Hvitveis) natural gas discovery made in 2003. EIA: US crude inventories increase 6.5 million bbl
US crude oil inventories, excluding the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, increased by 6.5 million bbl for the week ended Oct. 12, according to data from the US Energy Information Administration.
